While we found the player not to be significantly different from other Satellite TV players, it delivers channels to a computer with ease. However, with the pros also comes the cons. Internet TV and installing software to access it don't live in a perfect World. In other words, there are flaws you need to be aware of.

For instance, downloading software such as the DishNetPC TV Player may cause a rare crash once installed on a computer. Although the software may be compatible with a computer's operating system, it may not be with other software and hardware. Unfortunately, this merchant doesn't offer a free trial or test drive of their software.

More cons... There will be times when some channels won't play due to channels coming and going, temporary downtimes, and broken links. This is to be expected when using any TV player and watching Internet television. The good news is DishNetPC tech support can be notified by reporting a problem concerning a channel. The other good news is there will be plenty of channels available to watch.

Another downfall... while there are tons of channels that will be available, many of them can't possibly be of interest since there are 80 Countries with different languages. Although the DishNetPC TV player doesn't come with a whole lot of features, it does however provide a fast loading/playback time as well as good to excellent audio/video quality and overall performance. One thing to note here is an Internet broadband connection will be required for the best performance. Having 500kbps or higher connection speed enhances the video quality and overall performance more.

For instance, when watching live sports such as NBA basketball the picture quality will be good to very good when using a DSL or High Speed Internet connection. As a result, higher connection speed means greater quality and performance. 

We had no problems watching a sporting event, TV show, movies, etc., using our DSL even when the connection speed was 600-800kbps.

The TV player and watching Internet channels from other sites played well enough when using a wireless connection. However, do to larger bandwidths there were channels that didn't load and play--like some of the sports channels.

One of the 1TVPC shortcomings is it doesn't offer a free-trial version. Although no fault of its own, the video/audio quality is only as good as the source where the channel/video comes from, including your Internet broadcast connection speed and video/multimedia software.

We also found that higher the connection speed, the video quality and overall performance gets better. But this can mean paying more for your provider to increase the connection speed. Using a DSL or High Speed Internet connection with a minimum of 500kbps works rather well, even on our Toshiba laptop computer that was purchased in 2004.

Movie & Video Entertainment

Unlimited on-demand movies can be downloaded or viewed online with many of them having DVD quality. Whatever the mood you are in, there are full-length movies from any genre including other videos to watch on your computer.

Using a wireless connection works well in most cases. However, because movies are have larger files, using an Internet broadband connection will download them much faster. When downloading a video to your hard drive, it's being streamed which means you can watch it without having to wait for this process to end.

TV Entertainment

Whether it's the news, a favorite episode, shopping, discover channel, business, talk shows or whatever else that's of interest, there are links available for easy access to all the Internet media sites that have them.
